Pesky Baptists

Well, the Southern Baptists are at it again. This time they met in convention in St. Louis, and according to the story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, they "stood behind a former president of the denomination who called the prophet Mohammed, founder of Islam, 'a demon-possessed pedophile.'"

Wow. Guess they know about demons, and the pedophilia is documented (see the article; I'm not making this up). An angry Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, called the Baptist leaders' remarks "completely irresponsible and deeply offensive."

Mr. Hooper also said that "This hands a victory to terrorists who want to drive a wedge between Christians, Muslims and Jews." Of course, Islam's approach to having no "wedge" is to have all of us infidels convert to Islam. The mere existence of a faith based on love (Christianity) must drive the Islamists nuts.

Mr. Hooper looks like a normal, corn-fed Amurrican, except for the ridiculous Muslo-beanie he wears. He also spews pure crap in defence of that which is not defensible. As for the Southern Baptists, it is true that they are are not known for their finesse. They believe, as Christians, that God is love and that He sent His only Son to die for our sins. They speak their truth in service of those beliefs. Whether they are right about this or not, the Baptists I know (quite a few, including your humble blogger's wife) actually do seem to believe the part about God being love, and many, if not all, act accordingly.

In stark contrast, Muslims label all those who do not share their beliefs as "infidels" (non-believers), which is rather a curious slap at claims that Islam respects Jews and Christians as "peoples of the Book". Must be a different book, one I haven't been priviledged to read. Further, Islam passes a literal death sentence on those who are not Muslims and who refuse to convert (it's all in the Koran, at least the version I am able to read in English translation).

Muslims' God, according to them, commands them to send their sons to die for Islam. The God of the Christians sent His son to die for us. Quite the contrast, eh?
