We’re Here, We’re...oh, Whatever

Good God, it’s almost the middle of June, and I haven’t celebrated Gay Pride Month. President Bush, to his everlasting credit, has not followed in the footsteps of Bubba Clinton, who issued three annual proclamations to the effect that June was to be considered as “Gay Pride Month.”

Rather, the President, according to White House spokeswoman Anne Womack, affirmed that “...every person should be treated with dignity and respect, but he does not believe in politicizing people’s sexual orientation.”

Boy, is Mr. Bush ever out of step with the times. That is exactly what “gay pride” is about – it’s not about civil rights, it’s not about freedom, it’s about getting in our faces with the gay lifestyle. And if we disagree, we are homophobes, racists, warmongers, and generally degenerate Neanderthals.

One should take pride in one’s accomplishments and good deeds, not in one’s sexual orientation. If homosexuality is, in fact, a biological imperative (or gift from God, if one is a believer), then it seems rather vain and hollow to take pride in something one had no part in creating. On the other hand, if homosexuality is a choice, well then...there goes the gay agenda, down the crapper.

Your friendly author cares not one whit whether you are gay or not. That’s your biz; just stay out of my face with your choices, and I won’t get in yours about mine. As a Marine Corps DI (drill instructor) once bellowed at us cowering trainees, “kay wye pee aye wye pee” (in plainer language, KYPIYP, or keep your pecker in your pants) and I don’t care otherwise what y’all do with it.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammo.
