A Decisive, Brutal Ending
The Russians are still not a nation to be messed with. According to the Boston Globe, their special forces "fought their way into the building after the gunmen killed two captives just before 6 a.m. A large number of hostages tried to made a break, and the troops opened fire to cover their frantic escape. About an hour and 15 minutes later, the soldiers declared they were in control of the building, ending the three-day standoff. More than three dozen of the estimated 50 Chechens and an undetermined number the hostages were reported killed in the raid".
It is criminal, on the part of the Muslim terrorists, that any innocent hostages were killed. It is too bad that all of the captors could not have been killed. However legitimate the Chechnyan grievances against Russia may be, this cowardly terrorist act in no way furthers the Chechnyan cause.
Update: That "undetermined number" of hostages killed is now estimated to be 115 (Washington Post). 115! Because some evil Muslims wish to make a political statement about a crappy, wanna-be third world state that partners with the devil? Words fail; rage is supreme against animals masquerading as people who would take an entire theatre hostage. Evil is mighty; it must be fought with all of our strength.
