Tour of Suspect Iraqi Plant Offers Only Partial Access
This headline is the story, as reported in today's New York Times. The story, atypically for the Times, shows just what a shell game the Saddam thugocracy is running.
The deputy thug-in-charge, Mr. T (Tarik Aziz) is getting feisty, too. T. and the other Saddamistas, the ones who have gassed their own people, sent hundreds of thousands to their deaths in a futile, unprovoked war with Iran, and who have generally run Iraq into the toilet, need some lessons in the international pecking order. Let us keep it simple:
We are the United States, a freedom-loving and free society that has become powerful because of our ideas and ideals. We try to lead by example, but, when we need to, we can kick ass better than the best.
You are Iraq, a kitty-litter box of a territory created by agreement between two waning European powers (France and Britain) in the 1930s. Without oil, you'd all be lucky to have pots in which to pee. Be warned.
Mr. T, who apparently does not recognize these truths, offers this little turd of a quote: "America is the one challenging us — we are not the ones challenging America." Ouchie. I guess that settles it. We'd better leave it up to the euros and the appeasers in the Untied (no, not a typo) Nations.
Oh, and this final note, this time from those fun-loving chicken shiites: A gathering of 450 Shiite Muslim clerics in Baghdad issued a religious decree declaring a holy war against the United States and its allies in the event of a military attack.
Oh dear, whatever shall we do...
