Reorganization needed?
Great plan, Mr. President. Now, all you have to do is be preapred to do what President Reagan did to the air traffic controllers...fire those who put the interests of public employee unions ahead of the national safety and security. These are not people organizing for a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. The unions, in my experience with them from the inside of the Federal Government, are whiners who complain about favored cronies not being promoted into the senior executive service with no degree and minimal job skills, and who scream "racism" when a supervisor actually (shudder) holds them accountable for doing some of the people's work (as opposed to union politicking for their pet pols).
Reorganization could help, but at this level it strikes me as overkill. Sort of like a shotgun blast to cure a skin lesion. How about just using the intelligence, law enforcement, military, and technical counter-terror capabilities we already have; get the different agencies to play nice with each other; if they won't, fire some senior PAs (presidential appointees) if they don't get with the program; keep mid-level managers who won't cooperate in chains in the basement until they agree to leave or place their priorities where they should have been all along: Pprotection of our citizens above their petty bureaucratic interests.
Let's learn from past mistakes, stop pointing fingers, and move on. We've got the tools, let's use them and stop whining.
