Mixed emotions



The Israelis got one Salah Shehadeh, a top-ranking Hamas scumbag; this is good. They also apparently killed 14 others, including some children. This is not good.

The White House spin cycle was in full gear, and the minister of disinformation, Ari Fleischer, stated to reporters "This heavy handed action does not contribute to peace." This was quoted and attributed to Mr. Fleischer in the online Washington Post. ABC news, on the other hand, attributes the statement "heavy handed" directly to President Bush. Not, of course, that Ari Fleischer has EVER in the past deviated from what W actually said...

What the administration probably will actually do about this is, a) in private be thankful that at least the Israelis got the bastard who was directly responsible for the intentional killing of many innocent Israeli civilians, including children, and b) in public admonish the Israelis to the effect that this "hurts the peace process", or some such State Department claptrap.
